Jérôme Knops

Founder and CTO of Edenio

Jérôme Knops is the founder of Edenio, where he designs and builds custom business applications for construction, supply chain and distribution companies. He runs the scoping meetings, writes the code, and stays the person you talk to once the tool is in production.

His work nearly always starts in the same place: a company that runs, that makes money, and whose information is scattered across an ERP, four spreadsheets, an inbox and two people's memories. The subject isn't technical at that point — it's finding, in that mess, the handful of moves that actually decide the result: a quote that goes out, a follow-up that fires, an hour recorded once, an invoice that doesn't wait.

What he writes here comes out of those meetings. The questions are always the same — who owns the code, what does it really cost, who can change it later, do we throw the ERP away — and they deserve a written answer rather than a repeated one. The articles sell nothing: they give the method, the orders of magnitude, and say plainly when off-the-shelf software is the right call.

At Edenio the client owns the code: the repository is theirs, they can take it back, have it audited or hand it to someone else. That's a starting position rather than an argument — and it changes a great deal about how a project is run.
